Proposed legislation for APRN expansion of practice SUMMARY
Arizona APRNs goal: change Arizona’s nurse practice act based on recommendations so that it is consistent with the requirements for the LACE components.
Benefits: increase healthcare provider access, increase number of APRNs interested in working in AZ due to decreased restrictions on scope of practice
Not changing: oversight of APRNs will continue to be by the Board of Nursing, continued practice restriction based on education and training
Changing the legal ability to practice to the full extent of education and training will require changes at the legislative level in Arizona.
